William Blake's Eve

(a detail of) Eve Naming the Birds

1810, pen and tempera on linen, 73 x 61.5 cm.
At the Zglasgow Museums: Pollok House Stirling Maxwell Collection

This is a detail of a painting with a companion painting called Adam Naming the Beasts. A half-length figure, painted almost to life scale represents the creation and fall of Man, while other paintings by Blake represent Man's salvation. Eve appears innocent and beautiful as she mindlessly runs her fingers through her hair.
