painted many subjects over and over again, such as the masterpiece
here of Chateau Noir. This is a spectacular painting for its vibrant
patchwork of blues, gold, greens, and reds, as well as the complex,
daring composition. Trunks of trees break the composition into
dynamic shapes in the foreground, while black tree branches above
splinter the turquoise sky. |
