This
is one of a group of watercolors by Blake from this date, showing
incidents from Revelation. The red dragon waits to devour the
woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet. Upon
her head is a crown of twelve stars. The woman stands for Israel,
pregnant with child who will rule from a throne in heaven. |
