Siren's in the Water
Arthur Rackham
Pen and Ink Drawing |
Rackham’s
adept pen makes the water swell and swirl around the sensual
fairies caught with their hair down and now dripping. The fairies
are seductive Sirens, calling out to those lost at sea and
enticing them to join them in the fairy world of death and
drowning in the water. How well he captures the fairies longing
for the life of the living. The fairies themselves are tempting,
as is the urge to give up the struggle once a human is drowning. |
